How to Use Your Moth Traps

Watch this short video to see the Pheromone Moth Traps in action:

  1. Open the box, peel and fold the trap
  2. Place in areas at risk of moths
  3. Replace every 3-4 months, or when full

"Jumpers saved! This year the moths reappeared, but ha! I was ready for them, two traps, smelly bags in the wardrobe and drawer liners plus detergent and mist. I’ve just replaced the first trap, it had 10+ moths. Wouldn’t be without Clothes Doctor now" - Jan (via Trustpilot)

Took a leap of faith and invested in some moth traps

Took a leap of faith and invested in some moth traps. They seem to be doing the trick and day by day are collecting moth clothes moths. Im allergic to just about everything and these do not affect me at all or have a strong smell. I like to keep things as natural as I can.

Know what species of clothes moth you have!

There are several species of clothes moth and to be even slightly useful you need to know what (combination of) species you have and ensure the pheromone traps contain the right pheromone for your species. Just buying ‘clothes moth’ traps and hoping they work may well be a complete waste of money

Tiny travel size detergent…. Not what I expected! Took ages to come…3 weeks!

Great products, smell beautiful and keeps wool and cashmere looking lovely.
Customer service is poor though, which is disappointing. Always hard to get hold of them and follow up is poor.

Beautiful box of aromatic products that a joy to use

It was such a delight to receive this box of beautifully presented laundry products. They all smell wonderful and create a sense of luxury . It is like having a unbirthday present which is both sensual and practical

Excellent Idea

Very satisfied with contents of this box. Used everything immediately apart from the wash. Liners and spray have a pleasant aroma, as do the hanging bags. Moth traps have also been very useful. Trapped one almost immediately in a wardrobe which I thought I had protected with quite expensive moth repellent items from another well known company.
I like the idea of having a monthly box with the flexibility to add items or delay delivery. The newsletter tips are useful as well.

Seem to be doing the trick, excellence product.

These just don’t work

Love your brand but these pheromone traps simply do not work.
Having put out eight, (8!) of these traps to help with our moths, not one of the traps has attracted a moth in two weeks. The moths are still there and despite putting the traps where the moths frequent, they have had absolutely no effect. I had high hopes for this product and have another three boxes (12 total) of the traps. I dont feel the product is fit for purpose.

Hi there, we're sorry to hear the traps haven't yet been effective for you. We appreciate your feedback and would love to help find a solution.
Whilst the traps have been rigorously tested and proven by independent labs to be effective over a 12 week period, there are a few reasons why it can take some time initially to catch moths.
Firstly, can I just confirm that you've peeled off the film from all the traps? It sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how often people don't notice it!
Secondly, location of the traps - there are natural flight paths that moths travel on, and airflows that can carry the pheromones - it's not always right next to your wool and cashmere that proves the most effective location - make sure they are not close to any deterrents like scent bags - often in the open areas of your rooms around 1.8-2m off the floor prove to be the most effective places, but the key is to move them after the first week if you're not seeing moths being caught.
Thirdly, these traps only catch the male moths, so females will continue to be present initially, but over 4-12 weeks you'll see the moth population significantly reduce as the breeding process is interrupted - there is a natural surge in moth populations later in July and throughout August, so I'm confident that you've put these in place at exactly the right time and you'll see the benefits over the coming months in controlling this second moth peak. Please do keep us posted if you continue to have problems and we''ll be happy to share more advice.

Moth repellent

I bought a pack of these. I found they are difficult to use as they lack stability and end up falling from where they are placed.
The idea though is excellent

Fantastic Customer Service

I contacted customer service due to a mis-packed box with one item missing and an additional item added. I had an immediate reply apologising for the mistake, telling me to keep the additional item and with the missing item ordered for delivery which arrived less than 48 hours later. I am so impressed with their communication, have started to use the items and am already catching moths plus enjoying the scents.

I wish they were more durable, the hook is far too flimsy and tears easily. I have only had them a week therefor i do not know if they prevent moth damage. They do not smell unpleasant. However i do think they are extremely expensive.£80 + for 4 packs. Therefore 4 stars. If i get moth damage ill report back.

your Pheromone Trap questions answered

Pheromone moth traps attract adult clothes moths into the trap, where they are captured. This helps reduce moth breeding and allows you to monitor moth activity in your home.

They capture adult moths that enter the trap. They don’t treat larvae already in clothing, which is why traps work best as part of a wider moth-protection routine. Our Seasonal Scent & Protect Box is delivered every 3 months for year-round protection tailored to the time of year.

Pheromone traps are most effective when used alongside preventative measures such as regular cleaning, gentle washing of knitwear, and natural moth deterrents in wardrobes and drawers, like scent bags and drawer liners.

Place traps in wardrobes, drawers or storage areas where you keep wool, cashmere or silk. For best results, spread traps across different areas rather than grouping them together.

Each trap remains effective for 3-4 months once opened

Yes. The traps are chemical-free, non-toxic and safe to use around children and pets.

Try our Pheromone Moth Traps for 60 days. If it they aren't right for you, email support@clothes-doctor.com and tell us why they didn’t work for you. We’ll send you the return details and refund you in full.
