London Fashion Week: The Trends You Can Recreate

London Fashion Week is over for another year. This season designers revisited classic styles and added a twist. We have selected a few of our favourites that you can effortlessly work into your wardrobe and best of all, you might just be able to transform your existing wardrobe to get these styles instead of investing in new garments. Winning!

1) A modern twist on the classic trench coat
Did the trench coat ever go out of fashion? We think not, which is why It is no surprise that they were all the rage this year at London Fashion Week, and are set to continue to be. Designers have been giving the timeless classic a new lease of life. With the additions of tie waist belts, strappy cuffs, and decorative buttons, the trench coat can be styled for more than one occasion. Designs from Burberry and Gareth Pugh took this a step further, showcasing trench coats adorned with feather edges, brass embellishments, and hot-pink metallic splashes of colour.

Get the look: The sky really is the limit… with a little creativity, modernising your classic trench coat is a simple yet effective way of offering it a new lease of life. Embellish your collar, add statement buttons, reline with leopard print (or any other print you fancy). Get in touch with our team of experts to discuss in more detail.

2) The retro suit
The trouser suit was out in full force this London Fashion Week and it’s a look that isn’t intended to be limited to the office. Whilst simple practicality remains at the heart of the trouser suit, Alexa Chung proved that a statement shirt and matching waistcoat is enough to put the ‘power’ into the term ‘power suit’. Victoria Beckham’s collection showcased the all-white trouser suit, (unsurprisingly) in keeping with her own polished style.
Get the look: The key to this London Fashion Week style is perfect tailoring and colour blocking. If you have the ideal smart trousers in a statement colour, we can work up a waistcoat for you to match. Or if you have a suit that looks a little old, we can transform the colour altogether with a bespoke colour treatment. Find a contrasting shirt in another block colour and you’re there.

3) Asymmetric hem
Possibly the easiest of all of the trends, the asymmetric hem was showcased by several designers this London Fashion Week. From polka dot print tops to floral dresses, the asymmetric hem took centre stage on the catwalk, exhibited by designers such as Halpern. This trend works across skirts, tops and dresses and we especially love it when teamed with a printed fabric.
Get the look: Fish out your light and airy printed garments – maxi or midi skirts and dresses are ideal. Simply decide how drastic you’d like your hem and select ‘shortening services’ from our alterations services.
